EGG: The life cycle of mosquito begins as an egg. The female mosquito will find a wet place like a pond or lake to lay their eggs. She could lay between 40 to 400 eggs. It takes about two days for the eggs to hatch.
LARVA: When it's time to hatch, the larva comes out. The larva will stay in the water while it eats and continues to grow. It will come up for air occasionally to breath. The larva will shed its skin a few times while it is growing.
PUPA: The larva will stop eating when it enters the pupa stage. It mainly rests while its body begins to change. This change is similar to the metamorphosis of a caterpillar, as it turns into a butterfly. This process can take between two days and a week.
ADULT: After the pupa stage the adult mosquito is ready to come out. They now have wings and can fly away in search for food and a mate. Then the process can start all over again.
